BROADWAY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Stefanie McAlister has resigned as town manager for Broadway.

Mayor David Jordan made that announcement Friday on the town’s Facebook page and stated that McAlister informed him on Thursday of her decision to retire from public service.

Jordan made it clear that it was McAlister’s decision to step down and that nobody asked her to leave.

The town council will shortly begin discussions about how to proceed with finding the next town manager.

McAlister began in July of 2024 after many of the town’s staff left following the retirement of longtime Town Manager Kyle O’Brien. Interim Town Manager Bob Holton resigned shortly after filling O’Brien’s position, and Deputy Town Manager Cari Orebaugh announced her departure alongside Holton, but stayed on through the first week of June.
