OWINGS MILLS, Md. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s basketball team used a big first quarter to roll to a victory over Stevenson on Tuesday night.

Score: Bridgewater 74, Stevenson 54
Records: Bridgewater 5-0, Stevenson 2-2

How It Happened
• Bridgewater opened the game with five-straight point highlighted by four from India Dailey. Stevenson broke up the hot start, but only for a moment as Asia Williams scored and Dailey drilled a three-pointer to stretch it to 10-2. Stevenson scored in transition for the next bucket, but a Jaden Alsberry score sparked an 8-0 run to make it 18-4 after the opening 10 minutes.
• Dailey opened the second quarter with another make from long range to open the second quarter on an 8-0 spree before Stevenson finally scored after giving up 16 unanswered. A Mustang’s three-pointer stopped the run as BC lead by 22. Six-straight points from Stevenson got the offense back going and the two teams traded blows down the stretch for BC to take a 34-20 edge at the half.
• BC started the second half with back-to-back buckets from Alsberry and Riley Corcoran before Stevenson got on the board. Corcoran and Dailey followed with a 6-0 run between the two of them to push the lead to 44-22 midway through the frame but makes on consecutive trips down the floor by the Mustangs gave them some life. Bridgewater got the momentum back after a bucket from Alsberry and pushed the lead north of the 20-point mark multiple times including with a Jaiden Polston layup at the horn to make it 54-32 heading to the fourth quarter.
• BC opened the fourth on a 7-0 run and highlighted by five from Corcoran to make it 61-32 with 6:12 to play. SU showed some life down by 29 as a 10-2 run gave the mustangs a spark, but a steal by Rosemary Pierson followed by a score from Polston on the other end stalled the run for the time being. The Mustangs replied with an 8-0 scoring spell before a 7-2 run from Pierson alone over the final two minutes and change sealed the deal.

Match Notes
• Alsberry led all scorers with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Corcoran followed with 15 points and Dailey added 12. Jay Garcia was limited offensively, but still racked up 10 rebounds.
• The double-double by Alsberry may jump off the stat sheet at first, but the graduate student also racked up five steals, four assists and a block as well. Corcoran added three helpers and three steals to the effort.
• Janiya Ennis led Stevenson with 14 points on 5-of-7 from the floor. No Mustang had more than four rebounds in the contest.
• BC shot 40.9% from the field compared to just 32.7% for the Mustangs. Stevenson held a narrow edge at the foule line, but a 33-14 edge for Bridgewater in points off of turnovers made the difference.
