BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater College men’s volleyball took down Averett in four sets in ODAC action Tuesday night on home court for the first conference victory in program history.

How It Happened
• Once the Eagles found the rhythm and offensive flow, the Eagles were off to the races, but AU kicked off the action with an early surge. The Cougars ran with a four-point run to jump out to a 6-4 lead. BC snuck back in and tied the score at 10 apiece. Aiden Weaver pummeled an attack while Seth Williams got in on the offensive swing, pushing 16-14. The set came down to the final two points with AU snagging the last two at 25-23.

• In the second set, the Eagles kicked into another gear. A four-point run quickly positioned the set in favor of BC, and Jeffrey Prevost added the punishing offense at 12 with another kill. Later in the set, BC held firm control ripping off another four-point run followed behind two strong swings from Prevost. Tomi Visgaitis set up Aiden Weaver to cap off the second set at 25-19.

• Similar to the second set, BC ran out with an early lead off a consecutive point streak and capitalized on AU’s attack errors. A five-point rally bumped the lead to a comfortable 10-2 advantage. AU struggled to execute offensive connections while BC pounced on effective attacking sequences. The Eagles surged to a commanding 25-16 set score finished out by a devastating from Corbin Green.

• Back-and-forth scoring runs ensued to shape the fourth set. BC pushed a 4-0 run, and then AU returned with a four-point run. At a two-point deficit in the middle of the set, BC rattled off a strong seven-point scoring run to jump back with the lead at 17-15. The attacking errors caught back up with the Cougars and put the Eagles in prime position to capitalize. Weaver spiked the final point to come away with a four-set win and a fourth-set score of 25-21.

Match Notes
• Tomi Visgaitis finished with a season-best of 30 assists out of 38 total team assists.
• Jeffrey Prevost closed with the match-high 16 kills along with nine digs and five total blocks.
• Bridgewater led in all offensive categories with 47 kills, eight service aces, and 45 assists.
• This marks Bridgewater’s first home win and first conference win in program history.
