BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College field hockey team shutout Allegheny 5-0 at home on Sunday.

How It Happened
• Bridgewater opened the game with on the offensive and earned a penalty corner just three minutes in. Lexi Francis sent in the corner and found Kylie Amberger. Ambereger took a shot that headed off target and Francis deflected it in to make it 1-0 for the Eagles. BC added to the tally moments later as Amberger struck again off of a penalty corner and this time found the back of the goal with no last second deflections as her score made it 2-0 quickly. The Eagles had multiple more chances in the opening frame, but did not capitalize.
• The Gators started the second quarter with some life as a penalty corner just over a minute in resulted in a shot for the visitors. Ashley Nau made the save for BC in net and fended off the scoring chance. BC had three more penalty corners in the frame and only got one shot off it from Amberger that was blocked by the Gators.
• The Eagles found the back of the net three times in te third quarter. Carynn Klingler fired a shot that was turned aside by Rowan O’Toole in net for Allegheny and Emily Tyler found the rebound and put it into the back of the net to make it 3-0. Casey Grell added to the tally in the 36th minute as she redirected a shot by Crynn Klingler into the back of the net to make it 4-0. The third goal of the frame came ith five minute to go as Bekah Mercer had her shot saved by O’Toole, but Maylynn atson was there to bury the rebound and make it 5-0.
• Each team had chances in the fourth, but no shots found the target. Allegheny had a penalty corner late, but a foul on the Gators washed away the opportunity. BC flipped the field off the restartand got a shot off within the final minute, but it issed wide of the frame.

Match Notes
• Bridgewater had five different players fins the back of the net in the win. Klingler and Ambereger were the only Eagles with multiple points in the victory as Klingler had a pair of helpers and Amberger had a goal and an assist,
• Six different Eagles had multiple shots with eight different players firing a shot on goal for BC.
• Nau made the only save for the Eagles on the only shot on goal by the Gators. O’Toole had three saves in the loss for Allegheny.
• Bridgewater held a 20-1 advantage in shots on the way to the squad’s second shutout victory at home in as many contests.
