BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater Athletics is proud to announce the 2025 class of the Bridgewater Athletic Hall of Fame featuring three standout student-athletes and a legendary head coach.
This year’s honorees are Mike Clark, Marcus Richardson ’02, Mike Redwood ’11 and Cary Chenoweth Braun ’04.
Mike Clark is the longest-tenured head coach in Bridgewater College football history, as his 25 years leading the program saw the Eagles reach national acclaim. Clark led BC to the Division III National Championship game in Salem, Va., in 2001, which is still the only appearance by an ODAC institution in the Stagg Bowl. Clark tallied 164 wins during his quarter-century run leading the Eagles, six ODAC Championships and coached nine ODAC Players of the Year. At the time of his retirement in 2021, Clark was the winningest and longest tenured active head coach in the Commonwealth.
Marcus Richardson ’02 saw success on the gridiron and on the track during his time at BC. Richardson was a key part of the 2001 Stagg Bowl team, including catching the national championships’ opening touchdown and being named the Touchdown Club of Richmond’s Division III Wide Receiver of the Year. Richardson left BC as the program’s leader in multiple receiving categories, and also shined on the track, claiming ODAC Championships in the 100m and 200m sprints. Richardson was also named the ODAC Male Athlete of the Meet at the 2001 Outdoor Championships.
Mike Redwood ’11 took Bridgewater golf to the national stage. Redwood claimed ODAC Individual title in 2010 and backed that up in his senior season with his second conference crown in 2011. Redwood is the only BC men’s golfer to claim back-to-back ODAC Individual Championships in program history and is the program’s only ndividual qualifier for the National Championships to date (2010).
Cary Chenoweth Braun ’04 set the standard for success for the Eagles riding program during her time in the Crimson and Gold. Chenoweth Braun made an appearance on the national stage in the program’s first season, qualifying for the IHSA National Show in 2001. She did not stop there as she qualified for the next three seasons, including claiming the national title in the Intermediate over Fences Competition in 2002, the first in program history. She was led to three All-ODAC performances by fellow Bridgewater Athletic Hall of Famer Sarah Irvine.
These individuals will be inducted into the Bridgewater Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 18.
