TYSONS CORNER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater baseball fell to No. 4 seeded Shenandoah by a score of 10-8 in the elimination game of the ODAC finals round at Capital One Park Friday afternoon. The Eagles have been eliminated with the loss to Shenandoah.

How It Happened
• A game that started in Bridgewater’s control took a turn gradually throughout the game as Shenandoah rumbled back with runs in five-straight innings. Defensively, the Eagles struggled to clean up on miscued plays extending the inning for the Hornets to get into a scoring rhythm. SU held on to a dominant scoring surge and did not let go the rest of the way.
• In the first inning, Zack Chadwell sent out a no-doubter over the right-field wall to give the Eagles the opening lead. Two innings later, Chadwell returned with the same fire power knocking out a second home run in back-to-back at-bats to make it 2-0 Eagles.
• SU slowly built up its eventual scoring surge, starting in the fourth inning with a three-run frame with a sacrifice fly and two walks to score in runs with bases loaded. The Eagles worked to extend the lead responding in the bottom of the frame. Nick Stavros ripped a single through the right side to score Chandler Valbak which then brought up Bransen Hensley as he forced a run in on a fielder’s choice.
• The Hornets were not done with their scoring burst as they added another run in the fifth and sixth innings to cut the deficit to one run. Again, the Eagles mustered up a run to keep the lead in a comfortable margin as Hensley brought home Bryce Suters on an infield hit. However, the Hornets continued to plunge ahead collecting two runs in the seventh to knot the score up at seven apiece. The next inning, SU went ahead for the first time in the game beginning with an RBI single which was then followed up by an errant infield play by the Eagles to score in two runs, lifting the score to 10-7.
• The Eagles attempted a comeback in the ninth as Lucas Bauer walked with bases loaded to bring home Christian Harris, but with bases loaded and down to two outs, the Eagles were soon down to their final batter. SU got a swinging strike three to close out the game at 10-8.

Game Notes
• Zack Chadwell had a scorching bat, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and a total of four RBIs.
• Bryce Suters contributed offensively in a dominant way with three hits and two runs scored.
• The Eagles went through eight pitchers as Evan Bert was taken off after four innings pitched with three runs, five walks, and two strikeouts.

That wraps up the 2025 baseball season for the Bridgewater Eagles. The Eagles finished the season 26-16-1 overall and 15-10-1 in ODAC play.
