ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A Rockingham County Circuit Court jury has acquitted former Peak View Elementary School teacher Elizabeth Davis on all charges.
The jury spent most of the afternoon deliberating whether to convict Davis on two counts of abduction by force after she was accused of locking students in a class bathroom as a form of punishment in September of 2021.
Davis had also been charged with three additional counts of cruelty to a child. Those charges were dismissed on Tuesday during the first day of the trial when Circuit Court Judge Bruce Albertson said the evidence presented didn’t meet the standard for criminal negligence under the child cruelty statute.
