HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A Harrisonburg man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the Tobacco Hut and Vape on South Main Street this past weekend.
The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) released a surveillance image of the suspect on social media and its Tip411 program, which led to numerous tips from the public. HPD’s Major Crimes Unit subsequently identified the suspect as Alex Warble, 26, of Harrisonburg, according to a news release.
Warble was apprehended without incident on Tuesday, Oct. 16, around 4 p.m. when HPD’s Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team executed a search warrant at his residence on South Avenue.
He faces three felony charges: use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, armed robbery, and prohibition of wearing masks in certain places. Warble is currently being held without bond at the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Regional Jail.
Police responded to the scene around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, after receiving a report of an armed robbery in progress. The caller stated that the suspect, described as a white male, approximately 5’8″ tall with a medium build, brandished a firearm and demanded cash.
He was last seen wearing a red and black sweatshirt, black pants, and “Furry Uggs.”
