STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Staunton City officials have lifted the Boil Water Advisory for all City of Staunton water customers.
The Boil Water Advisory was issued on Aug. 15, 2025 because of a water main break in the City of Staunton. The water main break led to a loss in pressure and there was a remote possibility that disease-causing organisms entered the water distribution system.
Water samples have been tested for both residual chlorine and bacteria. All samples collected from Friday through Sunday were absent of both total coliform and E. coli bacteria.
Officials say that if residents have been using water at your property throughout the weekend, you have likely already flushed your water lines. If you would like to take additional steps, here are the guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health. For food establishments please follow these guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health.
