HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is coming back this weekend, and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is trying to drum up support.

The drive is handled by the National Association of Letter Carriers, which is asking folks to place donations of canned or non-perishable food at their mailboxes on Saturday morning.

Donations in the Valley benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, and food drive manager Livia Marrs says that they need all the help they can get.

“Right now we are seeing more guest visits than during the height of the pandemic and so we are distributing more food than ever before,” Marrs said. “And so getting community support, bringing in food donations has never met more to the food bank.

The event generated more than 115,000 pounds of food for the food bank last year.
