Beulah Mae Banks, 100, of Rockingham, VA, peacefully transitioned into the arms of her heavenly Father, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, with her son and daughter by her side.

Mrs. Banks was born in Elkton, VA on February 22, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Ananias and Annie Jacob Walker.

She attended Newtown Elementary School and graduated from Lucy Simms High School in Harrisonburg. She worked for Housing and Urban Development in Philadelphia, PA for over twenty years.

Beulah was a loving wife, mother and faithful member and deaconess of Evergreen Baptist Church in Palmyra, NJ, affectionately known as “Secretary Banks.” She was a dedicated educator to the new members class at Evergreen and an active member of her community since 1959. She held the position of Worthy Matron of the Oziel Grand Chapter of Eastern Star. She was known as a great cook, whose sweet potatoes were a staple amongst the community.

After her honorable discharge from the United States Army, she married Clinton F. Banks on June 21, 1947. After seventy years of wonderful marriage, Clinton preceded her in death on January 10, 2018.

Clinton and Beulah started their family in Philadelphia, PA and later moved their family to Palmyra, NJ. In January 2015, she and her husband moved to Harrisonburg, VA to live with their daughter, Khadijah.

She is survived by her son, Clinton F. Banks, Jr.; daughter, Khadijah Islam; grandchild, Anwar Banks; great-grandchild, Zion Banks and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Timothy Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery in Elkton.
