Betty Haney Engle, 91, of Elkton, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024. Mrs. Engle was born November 20, 1932 in Harrisonburg, Va and was the daughter of the late Claude “Bud” Haney and Ruby Lucille Shifflett Haney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William “Jack” Engle on April 15, 2000 and a granddaughter, Sara Morris Hensley who passed away October 3, 2014.
Betty was a member of Elkton Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. She loved camping with her family and enjoyed attending sporting events of the family. She retired as Senior Clerk for the town of Elkton in 1995 after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she opened BJ Party and Gifts in Elkton. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” Engle; daughter, Rebecca “Becki “Morris and husband, Ted; grandchildren, Sasha Gregory and husband, Vince, Kendra Plowman-See and husband, Corey; great-grandchildren, Peyton Gregory, Camdyn Gregory, Quinton Hensley, Wyatt Hensley, Sara See, Jameson See; as well as special caregivers, Brenda and Charles Shifflett, for their special attention and care that they showed Betty. She is also survived by her loving cat “Pumpkin”.
A funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2024, at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Elkton with Pastor Adam Snow, Rev. James B. Martin Sr. and Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial to follow at Elk Run Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2024, at the church prior to the service.
