BERGTON, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Bergton Volunteer Fire Company is organizing a fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 for the firefighter who was injured in the Capon fire.

In a release, Rockingham County Fire and Rescue Chief Jeremy Holloway said a firefighter was seriously injured last Wednesday during the initial response to the fire on Brushy Run Rd. in Bergton. The firefighter was then transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center by ambulance.

The firefighter remains in intensive care at UVA. At his family’s request, his name and details about his medical condition are not being released.

The event will be at the Bergton Rec Center in Criders. It will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday April 13. Any donations will be accepted.
