ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Valley’s representative to Washington has been named one of the House’s watchdogs on China.

Sixth District Congressman Ben Cline announced on Friday that he has been appointed to the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.

The goal of the panel is to keep a close eye on the growing number of military, economic, and technological threats that China poses to the   U-S.

In a release, Cline blamed White House policies for “empowering and emboldening” the Chinese. He called for a tougher stance that “tactically confronts” these threats.

Cline is already a member of the House Judiciary, Budget, and Appropriations committees.
