FOREST, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College softball team locked up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming ODAC Softball Tournament beginning on Saturday in Salem.
The Eagles will be the top seed in Pod 2 for the double-elimination format opening weekend of the championship. No. 3 Randolph-Macon, No. 6 Ferrum and No. 7 Roanoke join BC as BC will take on the latter in the opening contest on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.
Nationally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan took the top seed overall and anchors Pod 1 along with No. 4 Lynchburg, No. 5 Shenandoah and No. 8 Averett.
Bridgewater finished the regular season with a 28-12 overall record and an 18-4 mark in league play, their best record since 2012. BC is one of two teams in the country with wins over the ODAC’s two nationally ranked squads, Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan, helping lock up the No. 2 slot heading into the conference’s opening weekend of the tournament.
