How it Happened
• Bridgewater took possession early, and got deep into the W&L defensive half, but were called offsides in the second minute. Afterwards, the Generals began to operate in the Eagles’ defensive half.
• In the 11th minute, W&L had a shot close to the goal that was blocked by BC keeper Zane Kowalski. Kowalski was unable to secure the ball, leading to a Generals rebound. After the ball bounced around a crowd of blue and white jerseys, Buster Couhig found the back of the net for Washington and Lee’s first goal of the match.
• After the goal, Washington and Lee had three more shot attempts over a 15 minute span. Aside from those attempts, Bridgewater contained W&L’s forwards and prevented them from ripping other shot attempts. Bridgewater had a couple of opportunities themselves, but were offsides.
• In the waning minutes of the second half, Bridgewater had a couple of opportunities to even the score. Anthony Eugenio sent a shot from range, but it was met by the W&L keeper. Trey Widrick rang a shot a couple of minutes later, but it was off the mark.
• Bridgewater brought pressure to the Generals’ defense to start the second half. Riley Queen put a shot on target in the second minute, but it was stopped by Will Joseph. Erick Lobo and Eugenio also had shot attempts in the opening minutes of the half.
• In the 65th minute, Riley Queen nearly equalized the score when he was one-on-one with the keeper. His first shot was blocked, and his second was too high.
• In the 68th minute, Matthew Jenkins sent a pass to Ricardo Sanchez. Sanchez took a shot, but it was blocked by Kowalski. With the two on the ground, the ball rolled into the goal to give W&L a 2-0 advantage.
• In the waning minutes, Connor Campbell, Caleb Malekzadeh, Widrick, and Queen each had shot attempts, but were unable to find nylon.
