BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater baseball cruised to an 11-1 win over ODAC rival EMU at home Wednesday afternoon.

Records: BCE (17-8-1 OVR, 8-2-1 ODAC), EMU (8-14 OVR, 3-8 ODAC)

How It Happened
• Across the board in the BCE batting lineup, counts were extended and pitches in the sweet spot were presented. The Eagles protected the plate well, and attacked when necessary, drawing seven walks on the day.
• Nick Stavros got the offense going in the opening bottom half of the game ripping a single to right and knocking in Bransen Hensley as he was brought around on a couple misfires at the mound from EMU. EMU recovered from the messy first inning with a solo deep shot to tie the score at one apiece in the second.
• In the third inning, the Eagles strung up aggressive at bats and after the pitching change, BCE came ready to attack. Ashton Smith smacked a two-run single to score in Zack Chadwell and Bransen Hensley.
• Two innings later, offensive dominance ensued with an enormous eight-run inning. The Eagles got the action started with bases loaded bringing up to the plate, Lucas Bauer. Bauer worked a walk to get Chadwell across home plate. Bryce Suters stayed on a pitch in the zone, driving it out to the left-center gap helping to bring home Smith and Trent Holland. Soon after, Hensley stepped up and cracked a single to center, scoring in Suters and Bauer. At 8-1, Chadwell kept his bat sizzling, powering a three-run homer to opposite field in left.
• Relief pitching came in the fifth inning and held strong as Hunter Covill took over the stellar job by Lucas Cash stranding a runner on base with a strikeout and a flyout. Gary Tompkins then took care of the rest in the seventh collecting two strikeouts and a flyout to finalize the game at seven innings with an 11-1 score (run rule after seven innings).

Game Notes
• Bridgewater was active on the bases earning 13 hits and drawing 11 walks while only tallying two strikeouts as a team.
• Lucas Cash received his third win of the season, going five innings with one run, six hits, and four strikeouts.
• Bransen Hensley and Zack Chadwell each scored three runs while Hensley went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Chadwell went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Chadwell sent out his ninth home run and fourth in three games.
