Barbara Ann Knight, 73, of McGaheysville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Ms. Knight was born August 6, 1950, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Millard Garfield Dofflemyer, Sr. and Helen Louise Dean Dofflemyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second father, Rudy Breeden; a sister, Florence Heiston; two brothers, Millard “Sonny” Dofflemyer, Jr. and William Dofflemyer, and close niece, Penny Sperry.

Barbara carried out a working career that ultimately showed her character as a hard-working person. She was a dedicated employee of Keith’s Auto Sales, providing a range of skill sets from auto detailer, painter, carpenter to cleaner. Barbara previously worked at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with grounds and maintenance as well as a partial owner/dedicated employee at Pineville Home Improvements. In her earlier years, she had also worked in poultry plants.

Surviving are two sons, James E. Knight, Jr. and wife, Shenna of McGaheysville and Earl R. Knight and wife, Teresa, of Elkton; sister, Mary Lou Meadows and companion, Samuel Sheffer of Elkton; grandchildren, Lisa Knight of Elkton, Crystal Knight and fiancé, “Big John” Thompson of Verona, Molly Lam and husband, Cody of Elkton, Montana Knight, Katonna Marshall and husband, Sam, and Robbie Pike as well as great-grandchildren, Riley Lam and Elsie Knight (who was raised in the home), Ella Comer, Kaedyn Knight, Madilynn Hensley, Stetson Thompson, Maverick Thompson, Remi Pike, Alaina Pike, Novah Legg, Bellamy Marshall, baby Marshall on the way and baby Lam on the way. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including close niece, Nera Greene.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor James Kite officiating. Per her wishes, a private Entombment was at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens earlier in the week.
