STUARTS DRAFT, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is asking citizens to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle from Stuarts Draft.
In a release, Lieutenant Leslie Snyder said the incident happened around 5am on Wednesday May 8 when the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a suspicious U-Haul box truck traveling in the area of Guthrie Road, White Hill Road, and Churchman’s Mill in the Stuarts Draft area. The caller reported that this vehicle was hauling mowing and farming equipment and stopped in the middle of the roadway. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and found that the mowers were being offloaded from a U-Haul box truck and trailer. The suspects immediately fled the scene, leaving several mowers and vehicles behind.
The drive of the U-Haul box truck lost control of the vehicle and stopped in the 600 block of Churchman’s Mill Road and then fled from the scene on foot. Deputies located multiple lawnmowers in the back of the U-Haul that were stolen earlier in the morning. Also, recovered was a stolen Ford F-150 truck, pull behind trailer, and an enclosed U-Haul trailer.
Shortly after this incident, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen from a residence on White Hill Road. The vehicle has not been located at this time and is believed that it was stolen by the suspect(s) who fled from the original scene on Churchman’s Mill Road.
The black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe has Virginia plates VFN-6968.
