AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a report this morning at 7:18 concerning a student at Riverheads Middle School who made threats to “shoot up the school.” The initial investigation has revealed that this is a false threat made up by another student.
According to a release, the suspect has been identified and is not at school, and deputies are in the process of gathering additional information.
The Augusta County Sherriff’s Office said is no threat to the students, staff and the community and that scheduling and activities will remain normal today.
Additional deputies have been assigned to the school to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
The investigation is currently ongoing. Additional details will be released as they become available.
