AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Augusta County School Board has once again approved an option for 12-month employees to go to a four-day workweek during the summer, if they wish.
During Thursday night’s meeting, the board voted unanimously to allow full-time employees to work four 10-hour days while school is out for summer break, as opposed to the normal schedule of five eight-hour days.
Dr. Kelly Troxell, Augusta County Schools’ Personnel Director, told the board this has been a popular move for quite some time.
‘This is an annual request that offers increased flexibility for our employees and increased accessibility to schools and school personnel in the summer months,” Troxwell said. “The parameters that have been provided for you have remained consistent for a number of years.”
May 22 is the last day of school in the county. Students won’t return until August 7.
