NEW HOPE VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Early Saturday morning, a poultry farm near New Hope experienced a significant loss. At around 1:30 AM, the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department responded to a confirmed fire in an agricultural structure on Middle Lane. Upon arrival, they found a poultry house completely engulfed in flames.


The fire chief called for a tanker strike team, which brought additional tankers to the scene and set up a draft site on Battlefield Road. The New Hope VFD received assistance from the Verona Volunteer Fire Company, Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company, Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department, Grottoes Rescue Squad, and the Augusta County Fire Rescue Duty Officer. Fortunately, no poultry were killed as the building was being used for storage.
