FISHERSVILLE, VA (Rocktown Now) — The brother of the Parkland, Florida school shooter has been released from police custody following his arrest earlier this week.

Zachary Cruz was arrested Tuesday on three charges of misdemeanor trespass after surveillance footage captured him unlawfully on the properties of Wilson Middle and High Schools, and the Valley Career and Technical Center after hours on January 25th.

According to a statement from Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith, Cruz was released Thursday at 3:43pm.

In a twist that troubled the community, Cruz’s attorney, Amina Metheny-Willard, posted two live streamed videos shot from her car as she drove around schools within the Wilson School complex.

On Thursday night, Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith posted a letter assuring the community that the videos did not involve Cruz being present at any school properties, as he was still in the Middle River Regional Jail at the time.

Sheriff Smith says to expect additional law enforcement presence in the Wilson Memorial area.
