AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – An Augusta County man is in custody after he was accused of trying to kill a woman during a domestic dispute.

Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder reports that Denis Fitzgerald of Spottswood is charged with attempted first-degree murder as well as abduction and breaking and entering.

Snyder stated that Fitzgerald reportedly attacked the woman last month, punched her in the face, which resulted in a busted lip, and injured her arm.

Snyder added that the woman told authorities that Fitzgerald had threatened to take her up in the mountains and kill her.

Fitzgerald is being held at Middle River Regional Jail pending a hearing in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
