AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Government Center in Verona will be collecting donations to fly to North Carolina Friday and Saturday (October 4 and 5).

Folks can drop off items anytime day or night, just leave the donations under the Sheriff’s Office tents located in the front parking lot of the Government Center.

For immediate assistance to go via air shipment, the following new items are needed:

  • Blankets
  • Bungee cords
  • Candles
  • Charcoal bags
  • Diapers
  • Food (individually wrapped)
  • Matches
  • Lighters
  • Paper plates
  • Paper Towels
  • Plastic utensils
  • Ready-made baby formula
  • Tarps
  • Instant coffee
  • Chain saws
  • Bar oil & 2 stroke oil for chain saws
  • Empty 1.25 gallon gas cans
  • Plastic containers of peanut butter & jelly
  • Bread
  • Kids’ games
  • Wind up flashlights
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • 16 oz. propane tanks

Donations will also be taken to send a semi-truck to Southwest Virginia and to North Carolina.

  • Bug spray
  • Empty Gas Cans
  • Individual propane tanks – 5 gallon
  • Work gloves
  • Tarps
  • Baby formula
  • Flashlights
  • Batteries
