AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Board of Supervisors has approved a nearly 325-million-dollar budget for the upcoming fiscal year,

The board voted unanimously to authorize the spending plan during last night’s meeting, which includes money for the sheriff’s office to purchase dash and body cameras for deputies.

Supervisor Scott Seaton said that although he feels the budget is imperfect, the body camera funding won him over.

After the vote, Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith issued a statement praising the board’s decision.

He called the soon-to-come body camera program a “win solution” for the county, saying that he believes it will “keep the community and those who protect it safer.”
