Mrs. Arlene Ruth Wimer Thompson, 86, of Richmond, VA died Friday, May 17, 2024 at her residence.

A daughter of the late Cam and Euthel Helmick Wimer, she was born on September, 13, 1937 in Cherry Grove, West Virginia.

Arlene lived her early life in West Virginia where she attended school. She was employed at several retail stores before working for and retiring from American Greetings after over 30 years.

On July 2, 1960, she married Frankie Homer Thompson, who preceded her in death on December 6, 1998.

Surviving are her children, Timothy N. Thompson (Terry), Frank Duane Thompson (Lisa) and Julie A. Thompson Suarez (Scott); her grandchildren, Angela (Earl), Casey (Cornea), and Brandon (Bella); her sister, Helen Wimer Shipe and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Wimer, Jackie Wimer, Dorene Wimer Cobb, Betty Wimer Redifer and Carol Sue Wimer Roadcap.

The family will receive friends at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating.
