Anne Elaine Rhodes, 89, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mrs. Rhodes was born on July 8, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Marvin N. and Carrie Gertrude Hess Suter.
She was a graduate of Bridgewater High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended Madison College and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten at Waterman Elementary School in Harrisonburg. Her hobbies included gardening, and bird watching. She was a member of Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church.
On July 26, 1956, she married James “Pete” Ebert Rhodes who passed away on August 25, 2022.
Surviving are her children, Lori Anne Copley of Bridgewater, Lisa Kay Wine and husband Harry of New Market, James “Jim” Rhodes Jr. of McClean; grandchildren, Elizabeth “Liz” Wine, Zach Wine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Scott Andes; and her siblings, Dorothy Graham, Marvin Suter Jr., and Evelyn Richards.
Gerald Harper will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
