BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s basketball team started off 2025 with a 61-43 victory over Hollins on Saturday afternoon, led by Jaden Alsberry’s double-double.

How It Happened
• Both teams opened the first 100 seconds of the contest scoreless before Hollins drained a three-pointer to open the scoring. BC replied with an Alsberry second-chance effort, but four-straight points from Hollins pushed them out to a 6-2 advantage. India Dailey got BC back on the board before Hollins answered quickly. Alsberry scored for BC on the other end and a bucket from Alexis Edmonds evened the score 8-8 with 2:44 to go in the frame. HU took the lead back on a Cabria Mutz jumper, but a three-pointer by Riley Corcoran gave the Eagles their first lead at 11-10. The teams traded scores, but Hollins had the last laugh to take a 14-13 lead after one quarter of play.
• Hollins was held scoreless after the go-ahead bucket late in the first quarter allowing BC to take an 18-14 advantage before HU ended the 6:25 scoring draught. The Eagles went full steam ahead following the score as a 12-0 BC run with scores from Alsberry, Reagan Maynard, Aylin Humpherys and Corcoran to make it 30-16 with under a minute left in the half. Hollins ended the run just before the end of the frame with a three-pointer to make it 30-19 t the intermission.
• The visitors opened the second half on a 7-2 run to cut the lead down to six, but a score from Alexis Edmonds ended the momentum swing. Edmonds led BC in the third frame as her first bucket sparked a 13-2 run for the Eagles to blow the game open. The sophomore tallied sex of BC points in the swing, while contributions from Corcoran, Maynard and Asia Williams combined with solid defense made it 45-28 heading to the final frame.
• HU came out swinging again to start the fourth quarter as a 10-2 run over the opening 3:28 of the frame cut the lead to single digits at 47-38. BC got going offensively as four points from Jay Garcia sandwiched around a Hollins deep make made it a 10-point game again. A pair of free throws by Mutz drew Hollins to with eight with 3:51 to play but that would be the final points scored for the visitors. Bridgewater closed the game on a 10-0 run led by four points from Corcoran to seal the 61-43 victory.

Match Notes
• Corcoran scored a game-high 17 points, but Alsberry tallied a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards. Edmonds was the next-highest BC scorer with eight, while Garcia tallied eight rebounds.
• Mutz led Hollins with 11 points and seven rebounds.
• BC dominated the stat sheet with a 39-28 edge on the glass and a commanding 36-10 edge inside the painted area.
