AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – An Augusta County man has been arrested on multiple offenses after a reported assault on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Deputies responded to a reported assault in the 100 block of Bobbys Way in the Fishersville area of Augusta County. Upon arrival, deputies determined that Mr. Barbour, armed with a handgun, had assaulted another adult male. The victim sustained serious injuries to his face and head areas. He was transported to Augusta Health for treatment.

Following an investigation, deputies located and arrested Derrick Lee Barbour, 35, of Verona during a traffic stop on Lee Highway in Verona at approximately 7:10 p.m. yesterday, Thursday, May 22.

Derrick Lee Barbour has been charged with Malicious Wounding, Robbery with serious bodily injury, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Barbour is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.

“This was an isolated incident between two acquaintances,” said Sheriff Donald Smith in a release. “We have been working diligently to identify and locate Derrick Barbour, and I want to commend our deputies for their swift and professional response in safely bringing him into custody,”
