STUARTS DRAFT, VA (Rocktown Now) — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a house fire last night in Augusta County.
According to Fire Chief Greg Schacht, multiple units were dispatched at 10 o’clock for a report of the fire in the 11-hundred block of Howardsville Turnpike in Stuarts Draft.
Schacht says upon arrival, fire and rescue crews found heavy fire in front of the home.
“It was in a bedroom, and it was reported that it started near the windows at the drapes. There were some electronic devices in that area, but we haven’t determined yet exactly what the origin was in that area.”
The Chief added that crews brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes, but not before the house was deemed uninhabitable.
One person was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the cause is under investigation.
