Abe Bliss Clinedinst, Jr., 93, of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.
Mr. Clinedinst was born on June 28, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland and was a son of the late Abe Sr. and Bessie Lineweaver Clinedinst. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Clinedinst, an infant brother, two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Clinedinst Crump Welsh and infant Phyllis Clinedinst and nephew, David P. Crump.
Mr. Clinedinst was a U. S. Army Veteran that served courageously on the front lines during the Korean War. He returned home to Strasburg following his discharge where he worked at Aileen Manufacturing and cared for his aging parents. He later moved to Dayton to live with his brother, Gene and be closer to his family. Days were spent reminiscing about war time service, the Clinedinst/Lineweaver family tree and fond family memories. Mr. Clinedinst was also an avid reader and enjoyed tinkering with his old cars, being “Mr. Fix-it” around the family home and using his artistic talents to draw patriotic pictures of old wartime airplanes and create replica model airplanes.
Surviving are three nieces, Dinah Crump Harrold of Strasburg, Vicki Martin of Broadway and Carol Clinedinst of Maryland, three great-nephews, Matthew Martin and wife, Kelsey, Andew Martin and wife, Kaitlyn and children, and Tyler Martin and wife, Kimberly and children, and two great-nieces, Elizabeth Crump and Christina Crump Dalton.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3055 Fairview Road, Woodstock, VA, with great-nephew, Andrew Martin officiating.
