ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Area fire and rescue crews rang in the new year fighting a raging fire Wednesday night in Rockingham County.
At 9:16pm, Assistant Fire Marshal Brent Powell said units were dispatched to the 5,000 block of Singers Glen Road to find a trailer and nearby garage engulfed in flames.
By around 1 o’clock in the morning New Year’s Day, crews had contained the fire but stayed on-site till after 4am putting out hot spots that had migrated into the surrounding woods.
No one was injured.
However, Powell reports that the owner lost his home, garage, two vehicles, and two cats in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
