MONROE, La. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison women’s soccer scored first and equalized the match after ULM responded with two goals, but couldn’t push themselves ahead in the second half and drew the Warhawks, 2-2, on Friday night at Brown Stadium.

With the draw, the Dukes moved to 5-3-3 (3-0-1 conf.), while ULM moved to 7-4-2 (1-1-2 conf.). Senior forward Amanda Attanasi and freshman forward Ginny Lackey were the goal scorers for JMU, who remain undefeated in Sun Belt conference play. Redshirt junior forward Ariana Reyes grabbed an assist on Attanasi’s goal, continuing a streak of four straight matches with an assisted goal for JMU.

Redshirt freshman Sofia DeCerb made her eleventh start in goal, playing all 90 minutes and making one save. True to the result, each squad took ten shots, with the Dukes taking five on goal to ULM’s three.

Quoting Head Coach Joshua Walters, Sr.
“Probably our must sluggish game of the year. Never felt we could ever get it into high gear. Credit to Monroe who showed their ability against the ball. In the end we fought for a point and will take that back home to begin preparations for Georgia State.”

How it Happened
• The Dukes wasted little time getting going offensively, holding possession in their attacking zone, with Ariana Reyes threading the needle on a beautiful pass to a cutting Attanasi who ripped a shot past the keeper to make it 1-0 JMU in the sixth minute.
• Skylar Blaise netted the first equalizer in the 12th minute off a well-placed pass deep in the ULM attacking zone.
• Blaise then took advantage of a Duke turnover and netted her second goal to put ULM in front 2-1 in the 33rd minute.
• The lead was short-lived as Lackey booted an upward shot that bounced into the net in the 38th minute to make it 2-2 at the half.
• JMU tested the goalie a couple times in the second half, with Lackey asking the first question in the 58th minute that was saved on the ground.
• Lackey attacked again in the 66th minute on a good opportunity that was saved again by the keeper, followed by blocked shot from Attanasi seconds later before the senior shot it out of play.
• ULM drew two corner kicks in the final minutes as it held possession down the stretch, but the Dukes were able to force any shots off target and held on to earn the draw.
