SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Outstanding 4-H members, leaders, and supporters were recognized during the annual 4-H Achievement Night program held in Woodstock. Outstanding County 4-H member awards went to Maggie Eaton, Southern Shenandoah 4-H Club, and Ariel Matthews, St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club. The Charlotte H. Rinker Leadership Award was presented to Margaret Copp of the St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club. The County Outstanding Leaders were Hope Matthews, St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club, and Lindsey Rigby, Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team. The Outstanding 4-H Family Award went to Doris Lineweaver, Lee Hepner, Weston Copp, and Margaret Copp of the St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club.
Lizzi Zirkle, from the Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Club, received the Alan Boyer Memorial Award. The William Danforth “I Dare You” Awards were presented to Julieanna Kibler of the St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club and Brittany and Brooke Sine of the Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team. Abagail Newton, Cabin Hill 4-H Club, and Sarah Crisman, Fort Valley 4-H Club and the Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team were tapped into the 4-H Honor Club.
The “Friend of 4-H” awards were presented to Janet Michael, Host of The Valley Today, WZRV Radio (The River 95.3), and Lindsey Rigby, of Lindsey Rigby Photography and Design, for their outstanding support of the local 4-H program.
Margaret Copp, Abagail Newton, Lizzi Zirkle, and volunteer Doris Lineweaver were recognized as our State 4-H Congress delegates. Lizzi Zirkle was also the State Winner in the 4-H Table Setting Contest.
Chad Biby, Natalee Peterson, Erin Van Norton, Lizzi Zirkle, and volunteers Doris Lineweaver, Holly Steed, and Bobbie Jo Van Norton were recognized as 2024 Virginia 4-H All Stars.
The following 4-H club plaques were also presented: Attendance – St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club; Participation – St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club; Organizational – St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club; Project Books – Tie between Lebanon Church 4-H Club and the Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team; National 4-H Week – Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team; County Contest – Lebanon Church 4-H Club; 4-H Bike-A-Thon: Best Participation – Lebanon Church 4-H Club; Most Money Raised – Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Club; and Most Miles Ridden – Southern Shenandoah 4-H Club.
The 4-H clubs with the most County Fair exhibits awards were: St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club – 1st place, Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Judging Team – 2nd place, and the Lebanon Church 4-H Club – 3rd place.
Cloverbuds graduating from the Southern Shenandoah 4-H Club were Kasen Barton, Colt Collins, John Copp III, Payton Knott, Parker Litten, and Arizona Turner. Cloverbud graduates from the St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club were Carter Eye and Bailey McDonald. Cloverbud graduates from the Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Club were Harper Custer and Moira Soroka. Ramsey Levi Dove and Skilyr See graduated from the Fort Valley 4-H Cloverbud Club, Caroline Doane graduated as a 4-H Lone Star, and Remington Watkins graduated from the Lebanon Church 4-H Club.
Receiving 10 year 4-H membership pins were: Marie-Claire des Rosiers, Fort Valley 4-H Club; Maggie Eaton, Southern Shenandoah 4-H Club; Dakota Kibler and Ariel Matthews, St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club; Carson Stern, 4-H Lone Star; and Erin Van Norton, from the Lebanon Church 4-H Club. Receiving 5 year member pins were Emily Copp, St. Luke-Saumsville 4-H Club; Brynalee Dysart, Shenandoah County 4-H Livestock Club; Abagail Newton, Cabin Hill 4-H Club; and Brant Kibler and Morgan Marston, 4-H Lone Star members.
