WOODSTOCK, Va – It appears that a Woodstock man accused of shooting at law enforcement more than two years ago will not go to trial and instead has copped a plea with prosecutors.
A four-day trial for Sean Patrick Dempsey was scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in Shenandoah County Circuit Court.
However, according to online records, the trial has been withdrawn for a third time and a plea and sentencing date has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The 28-year-old Dempsey faces nine charges, including eight counts of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer.
Those charges stem from an incident on August 20th, 2020, at a home on Back Road, west of Woodstock.
Deputies as well as a Virginia State Police trooper reported taking on fire after they responded to a domestic disturbance. Dempsey was eventually captured the next day in the Winchester area.
