BERGTON VA: (WSVA) – Fire crews throughout the valley are battling several outdoor fires.
Rockingham County fire and rescue crews are battling a brush fire in the Bergton area.
The fire is concentrated in the Brushy Run and Bergton Road areas.
Chief Jeremy Holloway reports the fire has consumed 25 acres so and is possibly threatening so far and he pleads with folks to be careful on this Red Flag Warning Day.
Holloway says there a number of units are tied up fighting this fire in the Bergton area.
Meanwhile, in Augusta County firefighters are battling an outdoor fire along Route 42 in the Swoope area. This not far from Buffalo Gap High School.
And in Staunton, crews are trying to contain a fire in the Morris Mill Road area.
Trees down in Valley
WOODSTOCK VA: (WSVA) – For those traveling in and around downtown Woodstock, drivers may want to avoid Main Street in front of Massanutten Military Academy because of a large tree that has fallen onto the road.
Authorities have closed that portion of the road while crews work to remove the tree. They say it will be closed for some time today.
Woodstock officials also report a tree is down in the Massanutten Heights area and the road there will also be closed for some time.
Shenandoah County Sheriff Tim Carter stated that with a wind advisory in effect until eight o’clock this evening, folks should tie their outside belongings down so they do not block roads or cause damage.
