HARRISONBURG, Va. – A Winchester man will serve nine years in federal prison after he admitted to planting a bomb at a Civil War reenactment nearly six years ago.
According to U-S attorney Chris Kavanaugh, 64-year-old Gerald Leonard Drake was sentenced yesterday during a hearing in U-S District Court.
Back in April, Drake pleaded guilty to possession of an unregistered explosive device and stalking.
He was arrested last October following an FBI-led investigation into an explosive device found inside a tent during a reenactment at Cedar Creek Battlefield in 2017.
Drake also admitted to authoring several threatening letters to battlefield foundation members and various news outlets.
