RICHMOND, Va (WSVA) – Two bills sponsored by Broadway Delegate Tony Wilt have cleared the House.

One measure establishes a public defender office for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County has sailed through the House.

Wilt had said that was one of his big priorities this legislative session.

The other bill, known as his “road kill” bill, allows any animal that was killed in a vehicle collision to be claimed by any person.

The current law allows a deer or bear to only be claimed by the driver of the vehicle that collided with such animal.

Both measures passed out of the House unanimously on Tuesday and now move over to the Senate.
