WAYNESBORO, Va. — A Waynesboro man was arrested Sunday evening after authorities say he fired several shots at a tow truck driver who was trying to repossess his vehicle.

Lieutenant Leslie Snyder with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that deputies responded to the 300 block of Turk Mountain Road just after 7 o’clock, where the tow truck driver said he attempted to repossess a 2010 Toyota Tacoma.

He said the truck’s owner, 43-year-old Derek Ray Breeden, fired three-to-four shots near the wrecker after the repossession began. Snyder said the tow truck driver then fled the property and called 9-1-1.

Breeden was apprehended and charged with three counts, including attempted malicious wounding. He is held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
