RICHMOND, Va -= Lawmakers voted convincingly to pass the amended state budget during a special session Wednesday in Richmond.

While Harrisonburg Senator Mark Obenshain voted in favor of it, he was clearly not happy that money earmarked for Interstate 81 improvements disappeared from the amended version.

Obenshain said a minimum of 150 million dollars was going to go towards I-81 improvements in the original budget. However, he said he does not know why or how that money disappeared.

The Senate passed the bill on a 38-0 vote with one abstention while the House voted 86-4 to send it to Governor Glenn Youngkin’s desk for his signature.

Incidentally, the amended budget also brings back the Sales Tax holiday, which will be the third weekend in October.
