Rockingham County Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that a recurring state law banning afternoon and evening burning for the next couple of months takes effect once again this week.
In a notice on social media, the agency shared a post from the Virginia Department of Forestry that state’s Virginia’s 4 PM burning law will reactivate this Thursday, February 15.
In a nutshell, folks will be barred from starting any fires after four in the afternoon if the fire is within 300 feet of woodland, brushland, or fields of dry grass or other flammable material.
The law will stay in place through April 30th.
