Commonwealth attorney general Jason Miyares is piling onto a movement that wants to hold TikTok accountable for possible criminal action.
Miyares’ office announced yesterday that Virginia will join 45 other states and Washington D.C. in urging a Tennessee court to order the company to comply with a consumer protections probe.
In a release, the attorneys general said they think TikTok may have “engaged in deceptive, unfair, and unconscionable conduct that harmed the mental health of TikTok users, particularly children and teens.”
They added that despite this, executives have “repeatedly and knowingly” failed to preserve and provide information for the top cops.
The coalition accuses TikTok of playing an outsized role in the ongoing youth mental health crisis.
