CHARLOTTESVILLE VA: (WSVA) – Activities at all fraternities at the University of Virginia have been halted after a student pledge was injured last week.
The U-V-A Interfraternity Council says it has suspended all new member activities and social events until at least March 20th.
They said the decision was made to show commitment to anti-hazing efforts on the campus.
The move came after a sophomore prospect for Kappa Sigma fell down a set of stairs after drinking heavily. The student was hospitalized with serious injuries.
That fraternity was suspended by the university and an investigation is underway.
