BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The field for the upcoming 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships has been released and features a pair of members from the Bridgewater College track & field program.

Adalia Coleman has qualified for the 60-meter dash and currently sits atop of Division III as the fastest time in the nation. Coleman’s time of 7.54 seconds at last weekend’s ODAC Championships earned the event championship and tied the fastest 60m time in team history. Coleman will have a chance to repeat in the same event where she claimed national champion laurels just a year ago.

The native of Warrenton, Virginia, Coleman is also part of the field in the 200-meter dash. She ran a time of 24.77 seconds to win the event at the conference championships and sits 13th in DIII on the year. Following her two event wins and helping the 4×400 relay team to a fourth-place finish at the league’s championship, Coleman was named ODAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet.

Also representing Bridgewater will be Mike Smith on the men’s track & field side as he qualifies in the field for the weight throw. Smith boasts a top toss of 18.76 meters, which is a school record, and ranks 10th in the nation. He got his first All-ODAC accolades with a second-place finish two weeks ago at the conference championships with a best throw of 18.07 meters. In addition, Smith claimed the top spot in the shot put at the league’s final event posting a top heave of 14.83 meters.

Smith, a native of Waynesboro, Virginia, holds the second-best marks in the South region in the weight throw.

The Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships will take place on March 10 and 11 in Birmingham, Alabama.
