MAURERTOWN, Va – A 14-year-old boy is facing explosive charges in Shenandoah County after a bomb squad conducted a sweep Thursday at a Maurertown home.
Sheriff Tim Carter stated in a news release that Shenandoah County deputies and bomb disablers with Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at the home on Doral Drive. The sheriff said they recovered evidence of explosives at the site.
Because of his age, authorities have not released the suspect’s name.
The teen has been charged with manufacturing or possessing a firebomb or explosive.
An investigation continues. Sheriff Carter confirmed that the boy is a student at a private school outside of the county.
