ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va – Damaging winds on Wednesday caused widespread outages in Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative’s territory, and members are advised that service restoration efforts could last multiple days.
Crews and contractors will work through the night to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
As of Wednesday evenbing, more than 13,000 members are out of service. These members should make precautions as necessary to possibly be out of power overnight and into Thursday.
Multiple broken poles and downed spans of wire have caused major damage across SVEC territory. Current numbers by jurisdiction, as of 5 pm are as follows:

Members are advised to report outages on the Outage Center at www.svec.coop/outage, the MySVEC app or by calling 1-800-234-7832. Please DO NOT touch downed power lines. Report them immediately by calling the 800 number.
Meanwhile, Dominion Energy reported that over 2,700 members are without power, as of 7 pm.
Crews continue to work restore power throughout the valley.
