(AUGUSTA COUNTY) Staunton city officials are inviting residents to apply for the vacant City Council seat.

As Thursday’s meeting, the council adopted a procedure that will be used to fill the vacancy resulting from the recent resignation of former Mayor Andrea Oakes.

Anyone who has been a resident of the Commonwealth for at least one year, a resident of the City of Staunton for at least 30 days, and is a registered qualified voter, may submit an application for consideration to fill the vacancy no later than 5 pm on Friday, January 27th.
