FISHERSVILLE, Va – Augusta County authorities are investigating skeletal remains that were found Tuesday morning in the Fishersville area.
According to a news release, a contractor was digging footers shortly after 9:30 for a new home in the 1600 block of Tinkling Springs Road when they discovered what appeared to be human remains.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder says the remains are being sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke.
“These unknown remains do not appear to be related to any active missing person’s cases in Augusta County, and are not believed to be related to 3-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell,” Snyder added.
The sheriff’s office will update the community when more information on these remains becomes available.
Meanwhile, Khaleesi has been missing since September of 2021 and is presumed dead. The two people that police say are responsible for her disappearance are currently in jail awaiting trial.
