The Virginia chapter of the Sierra Club says it’s spent the last year working toward climate solutions that benefit all residents of the commonwealth. But they see Governor Glenn Youngkin’s decision to pull out of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative as detrimental to that goal.
Chapter spokesperson Tim Cywinski (suh-WIN-ski) says removing the state from the accord could lead to Virginians continuing to shoulder high costs from oil and gas companies.
The RGGI is designed to cap and reduce emissions from the power sectors of 12 mid-Atlantic and northeastern states.
